Dog walking holidays in the South West

Somerset is a great area for long (or short) strolls with your four-legged friend. Dog friendly beaches, wooded bridle paths and quiet country lanes all make for great walks but as well this there are some great areas a liitle further afield that are worth a day trip.
From White Post Cottages it is well worth packing up a picnic, flask and dog lead for a day trip exploring the beautiful and rugged Exmouth National Park, the steep wooded combes of the Quantock Hills or the more local Blackdwn Hills. OS maps in the cottages will guide you to footpaths where you can explore quaint villages with thatched cottages and welcoming inns or if you prefer, walks which take you along the river, through the woods or through fields and fields before you see a road (or even another person!)

Langford Heathfield is a woodland and heathland mix, lots of crisscrossing walkways, some wooden walkways. You can either drive half a mile up the road (turn left out of the drive) and park in the layby or walk from the front door, there is a footpath 10 metres on your left from the end of the drive, walk through the first section of woodland, cross a track then a second smaller piece of woodland then cross a road to get to the main part. It can get very muddy but there are 92 hectare to explore.
